Sometimes it can feel like our mind thinks us and that we are innocent bystanders at the mercy of a magic porridge pot of thoughts that just won’t stop.
It is possible to take control back of the mind, and to be able to slow the mind down; disengage with any unhelpful thought patterns and the first stage in this is becoming aware of thoughts, especially of when you get carried away on a thought train.
This meditation is designed to do this. There is a built in breathing exercise that can be practiced at any time. I find it’s a great exercise for at night if you are struggling to sleep as the focus on counting helps anchor the mind away from ruminating thoughts.
