Experiencing gratitude and kindness
“Gratitude is not only the greatest of virtues but the parent of all others." - Cicero
This meditation helps us enjoy the benefits of both gratitude and kindness. A gratitude practice is an introspective practice, while kindness is action orientated, focused on external behaviours. Being thankful is the act of gratitude. Expressing thankfulness is an act of gratitude AND kindness. Acts of kindness are outward expressions that generate positive emotions for the giver and receiver. The receiver is also given the opportunity to feel gratitude. Kindness breeds gratitude. The sense of thankfulness often inspires a person to "pay it forward." When one is grateful, they're more likely to act kindly towards others, not just as a form of reciprocation but as a natural extension of their positive feelings.
